ALGIERS, March 25, 2026 – The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday reaffirmed the strategic nature of the partnership between Algeria and Italy, particularly in the energy sector, stressing Algeria’s commitment to honoring its obligations as a reliable partner for Italy and Europe.
In a joint press statement with the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, who is on a working and friendship visit to Algeria, the president said that the visit “allowed us to review the state of bilateral relations and to jointly express our satisfaction with what has been achieved within the framework of bilateral cooperation in recent years.”
“We have reaffirmed the strategic nature of our multi-sector partnership, particularly in the field of energy,” the president added, emphasizing “Algeria’s commitment to honoring its obligations as a reliable partner for Italy and Europe in this area.”
In light of “challenges related to supply security and the stability of international oil and gas markets,” the president also reiterated Algeria’s commitment to deepen and expand cooperation in areas such as start-ups, modern technologies, training, scientific research, renewable energy (including green hydrogen), innovative agriculture, and food security.
