Algerian President Highlights National Efforts to Support Development in Africa

In a speech delivered on his behalf by Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui at the Fourth United Nations Conference on Financing for Development, the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized Algeria’s commitment to sustainable development and international solidarity as cornerstones of its foreign policy.

Speaking at the international forum held in Seville, Spain, the Algerian President underlined the country’s continued support for development efforts across Africa, through both bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks. He noted that Algeria is fully engaged in advancing continental integration through various strategic projects with a unifying character.

The President also highlighted Algeria’s work through the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, which contributes to infrastructure, healthcare, education, energy, and other development projects in several African countries. He revealed that Algeria has allocated no less than one billion US dollars for these initiatives.

Emphasizing Algeria’s financial independence, the President noted that the country has successfully freed itself from the burden of external debt by relying on its own resources. This has enabled Algeria to play an active role in supporting nations still struggling under heavy debt loads—debt that continues to obstruct progress toward sustainable development goals.

The Algerian President called for a shift from diagnosis to action by identifying concrete solutions for financing development. He expressed hope that this conference would mark the beginning of a comprehensive development process, affirming that shared prosperity is now a fundamental necessity rather than a secondary choice. He stressed that bridging the development gap and reducing disparities between countries is essential to creating a global environment capable of addressing the numerous challenges and crises facing the world today.
