ALGIERS – Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui said Tuesday that the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has established a multi-dimensional strategic vision in terms of development, based on economic transformation, social justice and sustainable development.
The vision “is part of the president of the Republic’s comprehensive and ambitious reforms programme, including major structuring projects and support to investment and wealth-creating economy,” the prime minister said in an address at the installation ceremony of Mohamed Boukhari as head of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE), as a replacement of Rabea Kharfi.
A vision based on “the promotion of national production and exports, the continuation of the process of transition to knowledge-based economy, innovation and digitization, with the maintaining of the State’s social nature,” Larbaoui said.
“This deep and inclusive strategic vision requires the combination of efforts by all actors, including the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council as a federating platform dedicated to scientific debate, dialogue, collective reflection and the formulation of constructive proposals.”
With its consultative status and membership, rich in expertise from a wide range of scientific, economic, social and environmental backgrounds, the CNESE is meant to “accompany the ongoing profound change in Algeria, by submitting proposals and recommendations for the improvement of public policies and supporting the government’s efforts for the building of diversified, competitive and integrated economy, based not only on the use of conventional resources, but on knowledge, innovation and spirit of initiative,” the Prime Minister said in his address.
In his address made at the ceremony, held at the headquarters of the CNESE, Larbaoui underlined “the interest shown by the president of the Republic in this constitutional institution with a consultative role, and his desire to promote this role and improve its performance in making proposals on the country’s economic, social and environmental policies, by involving the civil society.”
