Algerian Minister of Trade Visits Qatar Free Zones Authority

On Tuesday, the Algerian Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, visited the headquarters of the Qatar Free Zones Authority in Doha. During this visit, he expressed Algeria’s eagerness to share expertise with Qatar across various economic sectors, according to a statement from the ministry.

Zitouni was accompanied by Algeria’s ambassador to Qatar, Salah Attia; Kamel Moula, president of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA); Charaf Eddine Amara, president of the National Union of Public Entrepreneurs (UNEP); Hocine Zaoui, manager of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI); and several other officials from the ministry.

Upon his arrival, the minister was welcomed by Mohammed Hamad Al Thani, the CEO of the Authority, who provided a presentation on the organization’s operations.

The meeting included a comprehensive overview of the organizational structure, operational mechanisms, and management of free zones in Qatar, as stated in the release.

This visit also facilitated a review of key ongoing investment projects and showcased the resources available to investors, including modern infrastructure and tax exemptions aimed at attracting capital and stimulating economic growth.

Both parties underscored the importance of exchanging expertise and fostering mutual cooperation to supportbeneficial investment projects for the economies of both nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Zitouni commended the Qatari experience and expressed Algeria’s intention to leverage it as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the national economy and enhance export capabilities, according to the same source.

The Minister of Trade further praised the productive collaboration between the two countries, emphasizing the necessity of continuing to strengthen economic relations to attain shared goals.

It is noteworthy that Zitouni began his visit to Qatar on Monday, during which he presided over the inauguration of the first edition of the Algerian Products Exhibition in Qatar, featuring participation from over 150 national companies.
