Algerian military aircraft crash leaves four martyrs

Two more officers from the crew of the BE-1900 military transport aircraft, which crashed immediately after takeoff from the runway of the Boufarik Air Base in the First Military Region last Thursday, have been martyred, bringing the death toll to four officers, the Algerian Ministry of Defense said Saturday in a statement.
The statement explained that “following the crash of a BE-1900 military transport aircraft on the runway of the Boufarik Air Base in the 1st Military Region on Thursday, March 5, 2026, which resulted in the martyrdom of two crew members, two other members of the aircraft’s crew passed away yesterday, Friday 6 March 2026, bringing the total number of martyrs of this painful accident to four officers.”
In the face of this great loss, “General Saïd Chanegriha, Delegate Minister to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, expresses, on his own behalf and on behalf of all the officers and personnel of the People’s National Army, his deepest condolences and most sincere sympathies to the families of the martyrs. He prays to Almighty Allah to grant them His mercy, to welcome them into paradise, and to bestow upon their families and loved ones patience and solace. To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return,” the statement said.
