Algerian Mansouri Participates in the Preparatory Meeting of the C10

ALGIERS, February 11, 2025 – Algerian Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Selma Bakhta Mansouri, participated in a preparatory meeting among foreign ministers of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government of the African Union (C10) concerning the reform of the United Nations Security Council. The virtual meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone, as noted in a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs on Tuesday.

This meeting served as an opportunity to evaluate the progress made in the negotiations regarding the Security Council’s reform and to align African positions within the international governmental process for these reforms, according to the communiqué.

In this context, the Secretary of State reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to the unified African stance derived from the Ezulwini Consensus and the Syrte Declaration, which advocate for fair representation of Africa in the Security Council to rectify the historical injustices faced by the continent in the international system, the communiqué stated.
