Algerian Health Minister Engages in Talks with Portuguese Counterpart

Health Minister Abdelhak Saihi met with his Portuguese counterpart, Ana Paula Martins, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Their discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and sharing knowledge and expertise between the two nations, as stated in a communiqué from the ministry on Friday.
One of the key topics addressed was the digitization of the health sector. Both parties stressed “the necessity of adopting modern techniques to improve the management of medical information and facilitate quick, efficient access to medical data, thereby ensuring better quality healthcare services for citizens.”
Additionally, they highlighted “the importance of developing emergency medical and surgical services, reflecting the current state of the health sector,” emphasizing “the need to enhance health coverage through an inclusive strategy aimed at guaranteeing citizens access to high-quality medical services.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Saihi reaffirmed “Algeria’s commitment to continuing its efforts to strengthen cooperation with various countries in the health sector, focusing on the exchange of expertise and successful experiences to meet the peoples’ aspirations for improved medical care.”
