
ALGIERS – The Algerian Government studied on Wednesday, during its meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Nadir Larbaoui, several texts and communications on the sector of insurance, supervision of urban planning, improvement of public services coming under the sector of Labour, Employment and Social Security as well as the distribution of oil products, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.
“The Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, chaired, this Wednesday, 11 December 2024, a Government meeting devoted to examining a bill on insurance, in light of the directives given by the President of the Republic during the Council of Ministers on May 22, 2024, relating to strengthening governance and regulation of the insurance sector and expanding its field of competence, in order to allow for the coverage of various new and emerging risks, as well as improving services provided to the insured, notably by enshrining the distance selling of insurance products and digital insurance.
The Government also heard a communication on urban planning control and the issue of unfinished constructions, which allowed discussing several strategic lines, aiming to reinforce project compliance and ensure harmonious development of urban spaces, thus offering a modern, functional, and sustainable urban environment to citizens, while preserving national architectural identity.
Furthermore, and within the framework of sectoral communications on the state of public services, the government heard a communication on the improvement and modernization of public services in the sector of Labour, Employment and Social Security, which focused on measures taken for the modernization of service provision and the generalization of digitization in order to fight against bureaucracy.
The government continued the examination of the regulatory framework related to the storage and distribution activities of petroleum products, aiming to encourage competition and promote professionalism in this field.”
