
The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received on Tuesday, in Algiers, the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, Paulo Rangel, the ministry said in a press release.
In this respect, the two ministers held one-on-one talks, followed by expanded discussions that included members of both countries’ delegations.
The talks “allowed to review various aspects of cooperation between Algeria and Portugal as part of both countries’ commemoration last year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation,” said the same source.
The two parties also discussed ways to boost bilateral relations across various areas in preparation for the 6th Algerian-Portuguese High-Level Meeting.
The meeting provided a renewed opportunity to exchange views and analyses on international and regional issues of common interest, particularly the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, the situation in the Sahel-Saharan region, the Western Sahara issue, as well as the prospects for the Euro-Mediterranean partnership, according to the same source.
