
On Tuesday, Ahmed Attaf, Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, received a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as noted in a ministry communiqué.
“During this conversation, Attaf extended his congratulations to his U.S. counterpart on his appointment as head of the U.S. Department of State. Both parties praised the positive momentum in Algerian-American relations and agreed to collaborate in enhancing bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as defense, energy, agriculture, and science and technology,” the communiqué stated.
In discussing international multilateralism, the two ministers addressed developments in the Middle East, underscoring their commitment to continue coordinating within the United Nations Security Council to strengthen and uphold the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. They also expressed solidarity with their counterparts in Syria and Lebanon, advocating for security and stability while preserving sovereignty and national unity, according to the same source.
