Algerian FM Receives Phone Call from His South African Counterpart

ALGIERS, April 9, 2026 – The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received on Thursday a phone call from the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ronald Lamola, according to a statement from the ministry.

During this telephone conversation, “the two ministers agreed to hold a forthcoming meeting to continue implementing the conclusions of the last session of the Joint Grand Commission, co-chaired by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his brother, President Cyril Ramaphosa,” the statement specified.

The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Gulf and the Middle East, expressing their hope that the anticipated negotiations between the concerned parties will address the root causes of the conflict and pave the way for a definitive settlement ensuring lasting and sustainable stability, the same source concluded.
