Algerian FM Receives Phone Call from His French Counterpart

The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call on Thursday from his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, according to a statement from the ministry. This call follows a telephonic conversation on Monday between Algeria President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and French President Emmanuel Macron.

“In the wake of the phone call on March 31, 2025, between the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call today from his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot,” the statement clarifies.

Barrot is scheduled to make an official visit to Algeria on Sunday at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, the source added.

“In this context, the phone call provided an opportunity for both ministers to review key issues that the two heads of state requested be prioritized as part of the broader framework for resolving recent disputes that have disrupted the normal course of Algerian-French relations,” the statement concluded.
