
Algiers, April 8, 2026 – The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call this Wednesday evening from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic, Antonio Tajani, according to a statement from the ministry.
The call addressed “the developments taking place in the Middle East and the Gulf region, where both parties reiterated their welcome of the agreement reached by the concerned parties regarding a cessation of military operations,” stressing “the need to build on it in a way that leads to lasting security and sustainable stability in the region,” the same statement added.
Both sides also expressed “their deep concern over the Israeli attacks that Lebanon continues to face,” emphasizing “the importance of mobilizing international efforts to put an end to them, in a manner that preserves Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability, and protects the region as a whole from the risks of a return to military escalation,” the ministry’s statement concluded.
