Algerian FM Meets with His Russian Counterpart in Sochi

Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, engaged in bilateral talks on Friday with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, at the onset of his official visit to Sochi, Russia. He is scheduled to participate in the inaugural ministerial conference of the Africa-Russia Partnership Forum, as indicated in a communiqué from the ministry.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the current status and future prospects of the strategic partnership between Algeria and Russia. This dialogue follows up on the implementation of the conclusions drawn from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to Russia in June 2023 and the discussions he held with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, the communiqué reported.

“The two parties also exchanged perspectives on significant regional and international issues, particularly the latest developments in the Middle East and the Sahel region,” the communiqué concluded.
