Algerian FM Holds Talks with Multiple Counterparts in New York

The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, conducted bilateral talks in New York with foreign ministers from several friendly nations, as announced in a ministry communiqué on Friday.
In this context, Attaf met with Bassam Sabbagh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic; Mohamed Sidati, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic; Jeje Odongo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda; Yassine Fall, the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal; and Robert Dussey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Togo, the statement specified.
During his meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh—who has recently taken office as Foreign Minister—Attaf took the opportunity to congratulate him once again on the trust placed in him to lead Syrian diplomacy. The two ministers also explored ways to enhance the fraternal relations and cooperation between their countries, discussing the situation in the Arab world, particularly the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza and the escalating violence in the region.
Discussions with the Sahrawi Foreign Minister focused on the latest diplomatic developments concerning the Sahrawi issue, notably the revival of the political process that would enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination, in anticipation of upcoming sessions at both the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly.
Attaf also met with the Ugandan Foreign Minister, who chairs the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 + China, where they engaged in dialogue regarding key international and regional issues. Both parties examined strategies to strengthen bilateral relations, the communiqué noted.
Additionally, Attaf discussed with his Senegalese counterpart ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors in preparation for the upcoming session of the Algeria-Senegal Joint Commission.
With his Togolese counterpart, Attaf addressed the political and security developments in the Sahel region, along with several matters related to impending continental deadlines, the source concluded.
