Algerian FM Holds Talks with ASEAN Secretary General in Kuala Lumpur

ALGIERS — The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral discussions Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur with the Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Kao Kim Hourn, ahead of his participation in the signing ceremony for Algeria’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, according to a ministry statement.

The meeting focused on “examining opportunities to strengthen the partnership between Algeria and ASEAN following Algeria’s accession to this regional organization’s treaty, taking into account the shared values between Algeria and ASEAN and the privileged bilateral relations Algeria maintains with ASEAN member states,” the statement noted.
