Algerian FM Engages in Talks with Somali Counterpart in Addis Ababa

ALGIERS, February 11, 2025 – Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral discussions on Tuesday in Addis Ababa with Ali Mohamed Omar, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Somali Federal Republic. This meeting took place prior to their participation in the African Union (AU) Executive Council meetings, as stated by the ministry.
“The discussions offered an opportunity to exchange views on key issues on the Executive Council’s agenda and to explore avenues for enhancing the relationship between Algeria and Somalia,” the statement highlighted.
During this occasion, both parties “underscored the significance of ongoing coordination between the two countries during their tenure as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, particularly within the framework of the A3 group,” the source further noted.
