Algerian FM Attaf Holds Bilateral Talks with Philippine Counterpart in Kuala Lumpur

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur with the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Maria Theresa Lazaro, on the sidelines of Algeria’s signing ceremony for the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The meeting focused on reviewing the state of relations between Algeria and the Philippines and exploring ways to give them fresh momentum, particularly in the economic field, as part of preparations for upcoming bilateral milestones.

The two ministers also discussed how the Philippines could contribute to strengthening the partnership between Algeria and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), especially as the Philippines is set to assume the rotating presidency of the regional organization next year, the statement concluded.
