ALGIERS, September 4, 2025 (APS) – Algeria’s nominal GDP rose from 33,678.7 billion DZD in 2023 to 36,103.5 billion DZD in 2024, an increase of 7.2%, the National Statistics Office (ONS) reported on Thursday.
This growth reflects “a 3.4% change in the implicit GDP price index over the year,” the Office noted, specifying that the GDP value in 2024, converted into US dollars, amounts to $269.3 billion.
Real economic growth in Algeria reached 3.7% in 2024, according to an ONS statement.
“This development reflects the maintenance of a positive economic momentum. The increase in GDP in 2024 is primarily due to growth recorded in certain strategic sectors,” the Office analyzed.
Agriculture, the agri-food industry, the textile industry, and trade contributed significantly, with respective growth rates of 5.3%, 5.2%, 10.3%, and 7.4%.
The growth rate of non-hydrocarbon GDP showed a stronger increase than that of overall GDP, rising from 4.3% in 2023 to 4.8% in 2024, representing “a notable improvement and appreciable economic performance,” according to the Office.
In 2024, domestic demand grew by 6.9%. This pace “remains robust compared to 2023 and is largely driven by a significant 9.8% increase in gross fixed capital formation.”
Furthermore, household final consumption rose by 3.9%, while public administration consumption increased by 2.8%, the statement added.
