
Efforts to smuggle more than 300 kilograms of processed cannabis across the Moroccan borders were successfully intercepted during operations conducted by combined detachments of the People’s National Army of Algeria (ANP), in collaboration with various security services, from July 9 to 16, as detailed in an operational report released Wednesday by the ANP.
“In line with our ongoing commitment to combating terrorism and organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army executed several operations between July 9 and 16, 2025. These efforts yielded significant results, reflecting the high level of professionalism, vigilance, and preparedness of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” the source stated.
As part of the campaign against organized crime and the sustained fight against drug trafficking, combined detachments of the ANP apprehended 43 drug traffickers and prevented the introduction of 393 kilograms of processed cannabis from Morocco. In addition, 54.77 kilograms of cocaine were seized in the 4th Military Region, along with 320,430 psychotropic tablets during operations conducted across multiple military regions.
According to the same report, ANP detachments “arrested 308 individuals and confiscated 32 vehicles, 230 generators, 150 jackhammers, five metal detectors, as well as quantities of raw gold mixtures, stones, explosives, detonation tools, and equipment used in illegal gold panning operations in Tamanrasset, In Guezzam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, Djanet, and Illizi.”
Furthermore, “seven additional individuals were apprehended, and three hunting rifles were confiscated, along with 219,280 liters of fuel, 540 kilograms of tobacco, and five tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation during various operations.”
Additionally, the Coast Guard “successfully thwarted attempts at illegal immigration on national shores, rescuing 58 individuals aboard makeshift vessels, while also apprehending 136 illegal immigrants of various nationalities across the country,” the report highlighted.
