
Attempts to smuggle nearly 10 quintals of cannabis across the borders with Morocco were thwarted during operations carried out by combined detachments of the People’s National Army (PNA), in coordination with security services, between 19-25 November, according to an operational report released by the PNA on Wednesday.
“In line with ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism and multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army (PNA) carried out several operations on 19-25 November 2025, leading to high-quality results that reflect the high professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of our Armed Forces across the entire national territory,” the source stated.
As part of counterterrorism, “PNA detachments arrested 7 terrorist supporters in various operations across the national territory.” As for organized crime and “in continuation of the efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the PNA, in coordination with various security services, intercepted during operations carried out across the Military Regions, 61 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 9 quintals and 66 kilograms of cannabis from the borders with Morocco, while 1.35 kilograms of cocaine and 564,966 psychotropic pills were seized,” the communiqué added.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, Illizi, and Djanet, detachments of the PNA “arrested 566 individuals and seized 37 vehicles, 261 generators, 146 jackhammers, as well as quantities of raw gold mix and stones, along with equipment used in illegal gold panning operations.” Similarly, “14 other individuals were apprehended, and 3 Kalashnikov-type assault rifles, a handgun, 14 hunting rifles, 60,100 liters of fuel, as well as 6 tons of goods intended for smuggling and speculation, were seized during separate operations,” the communiqué noted.
The Coast Guard “foiled irregular migration attempts on national shores and rescued 79 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 202 irregular migrants of various nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” the report concluded.
