ALGIERS – General Said Chanegriha, the deputy minister to the ministry of the National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, supervised Tuesday, on the second day of his visit to the 4th Military Region, the execution of a tactical exericuse with live ammunition, at the North-East operational sector, in In Amenas, the Ministry of the National Defense said in a communiqué.
Initially, General Changriha followed, accompanied by Major General Omar Tlemcani, Commander of the 4th Military Region, a presentation by the Operational Sector’s Commander outlining the concept and implementation phases of the exercise.
This tactical exercise, executed with live ammunition, aimed at « testing the combat readiness of the Operational Sector’s units, the ability to execute possible combat missions, mastery of combat equipment and modern weapon systems, training commanders and staffs to develop their knowledge in planning, preparation, organization and execution, while placing them in real combat conditions, » said the source.
“At the Sector’s training field, the General closely followed the various combat actions executed by participating ground and air units. These actions, which were characterized throughout all phases of the exercise by professionalism and a high tactical and operational level, confirmed once again the rigor in carrying out actions both in terms of planning and execution, and reflected the competence of the officers in setting up, conducting and coordinating combat actions, as well as the expertise and mastery by the staffs of the various weapon systems and equipment made available,” added the source.
“Following the exercise, the General met with staff from the units that executed this exercise, to assess the overall performance of the participants. On site, he commended them for their efforts during both the preparation and execution of this live-fire tactical exercise, which yielded highly satisfactory outcomes, demonstrated through precise weapon targeting and seamless coordination among all participating units and forces,” said the source.
General Chanegriha urged all the staffs to “take advantage of the positive results obtained in order to further increase the operational capabilities of the Battle Corps, in this sensitive sector in particular and of the People’s National Army in general, before reviewing the units of the North-East Operational Sector In Amenas, as well as the formations participating in this exercise,” concluded the Ministry of the National Defense.
