Algerian Army General Oversees Live-Ammunition Tactical Exercise at In Guezzam

Algerian Army General Said Chanegriha, Deputy Minister to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (PNA), oversaw on Wednesday, at the level of the In-Guezzam Operational Sector, on the second day of his visit to the 6th Military Region, a live-ammunition tactical exercise “Issar 2026,” the Ministry of National Defense said in a press release.

Army General Chanegriha followed a briefing presented by the Commander of the 6th Military Region and the Commander of the Operational Sector, covering the general concept of the exercise and the stages of its execution.

“This tactical exercise, performed with live ammunition, aims to test the combat readiness of the units of the Operational Sector, the capacity to execute possible combat missions, the mastery of combat equipment and modern weapons systems, to train the commands and General Staffs and to develop their knowledge in matters of planning, preparation, organization and execution, while placing them in conditions stimulating real combat,” said the statement.

At the sector’s maneuver field, Army General Chanegriha closely followed the various combat actions carried out by the land and air units taking part in the exercise, added the press release.

“Throughout every phase, these actions were marked by professionalism and a high tactical and operational level, which demonstrated, once again, the rigor in the accomplishment of actions both in terms of planning and execution, and reflected the officers’ competence in mounting, directing and coordinating combat operations, as well as the personnel’s technical mastery of the various weapons systems and equipment at their disposal.” Following the exercise, which was designed to assess the participants’ overall performance, the General of the Army met with the personnel of the participating units.

“Chanegriha congratulated them for the efforts made during the preparation and execution of this live-ammunition tactical exercise, which yielded highly satisfactory results, reflected in the accuracy of fire with the various weapons and the perfect coordination between the units and elementary units engaged,” the tatement said.

Army General Chanegriha urged all personnel to “build on these positive results in order to further enhance the operational capabilities of the Battle Corps within this sensitive sector.”
