Algerian Army General Oversees Installation of 3rd Military Region Commander

Algerian Army General Saïd Chanegriha, the minister delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), presided over the installation ceremony of Major General Necereddine Foudhil as the new Commander of the 3rd Military Region in Béchar on Thursday. This event was held on behalf of the President of the Republic, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.

“In the name of the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Army General Saïd Chanegriha presided over the installation ceremony of Major General Necereddine Foudhil as the Commander of the 3rd Military Region in Béchar on Thursday, November 21, 2024,” the statement read.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the Army General listened to the national anthem and observed a moment of silence at the entrance to the Command of the 3rd Military Region in memory of the martyr Moustapha Benboulaid, after whom the command headquarters is named. The Army General laid a wreath at the commemorative plaque dedicated to the martyr and recited the Fatiha in his honor, as well as in memory of all valiant martyrs.

The Army General then inspected the ranks of officers and personnel of the region, who were aligned at the parade ground, before officially announcing the installation of the new Commander of the 3rd Military Region, who succeeds Major General Mostefa Smaili.

“On behalf of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, and in accordance with the presidential decree of November 12, 2024, I formally install Major General Necereddine Foudhil as the Commander of the 3rd Military Region, succeeding Major General Mostefa Smaili,” declared the Army General.

“I also instruct you to work under his authority, follow his orders, and execute his directives in the interest of service, in accordance with military regulations and the laws of the Republic, while upholding the sacrifices of our brave martyrs and the values of our glorious Revolution,” he added.

Subsequently, the Army General oversaw the flag handover ceremony and the signing of the power transfer protocol.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Army General met with the officers and personnel of the region, delivering an orientation speech that was broadcast via videoconference to all units. During this address, he reiterated his congratulations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954. He emphasized that exemplary discipline, collaborative efforts, military ethics, a strong sense of patriotism, and unity among ranks are essential for building a strong and reputable army.

He remarked, “This meeting takes place as we continue to celebrate the festive spirit of the 70th anniversary of the glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954—a revolution that altered the course of history and represented the culmination of a long and arduous struggle, fought with strength and bravery by our valiant people for more than 130 years, ultimately culminating in victory over the enemy and driving them irrevocably from our land.”

“On this historic occasion, we turn to Allah, the Most High, and ask Him to grant success to our National Popular Army, the rightful heir to the National Liberation Army, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, who serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense. May He assist its courageous members in their efforts to protect the freedom, sovereignty, and independence of our nation, ensuring progress and well-being for our people within an environment of security, stability, and brotherhood,” he stated.

“These demands continually urge us, within the scope of each individual’s responsibilities and prerogatives, to exemplify discipline, rigor, and perseverance. We must collaborate to strengthen our efforts, embracing military ethics, a profound sense of patriotism, and unity among our ranks. This is how we will succeed in establishing a formidable army with a stellar reputation,” he added.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Army General listened attentively to remarks from the staff and personnel of the 3rd Military Region Command and addressed their concerns.
