Algerian Army Eliminates Two Terrorists, Arrests Six Supporters in Nationwide Operations

ALGIERS – Two terrorists were eliminated in Khenchela, two (02) others surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, while six (06) terrorist supporters were arrested by detachments of the People’s National Army in various operations conducted nationwide from 28 May to 3 June, the People’s National Army said Wednesday in an operational report.

“As part of the ongoing counterterrorism efforts against the multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out, in the period from 28 May to 3 June 2025, several operations that led to quality results showing the professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our armed forces nationwide,” said the source.

In the fight against terrorism, “thanks to the efforts of the Army units, detachments of the People’s National Army eliminated two (02) terrorists and recovered two (02) Kalashnikov submachine guns and a quantity of munitions in Khenchela in the 5th Military Region,” said the source.

In this regard, “the terrorists named Rikane Brahim alias (Bilel) and Lahad Ibrahim alias (Moussa) surrendered to the military authorities of Bordj Badji Mokhtar in the 6th Military Region, possessing two (02) Kalashnikov submachine guns, one (01) automatic pistol, a quantity of ammunition and other items, while other detachments of the People’s National Army arrested six (06) terrorist supporters, in various operations through the national territory.”

In the fight against organized crime, “the sustained efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined Army detachments have intercepted, in coordination with different security services, in operations carried out in various military regions, 63 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 1 quintal and 31 kg of cannabis through the border with Morocco, while important quantities of psychotropic tablets amounting to 2,059,240 were seized.”

“In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam and Djanet, detachments of the People’s National Army  arrested 220 individuals and seized 50 vehicles, 281 power generators, 183 jackhammers, five metal detectors, as well as quantities of raw gold stones, explosives, detonation devices and equipment used in illegal gold mining.”

“Thirteen individuals were arrested and eleven (11) shotguns, 11,335 liters of fuel, as well as 18 quintals of tobacco and 39 tons of foodstuffs destined to smuggling and speculation were seized, in various operations,” according to the source.

“Coast Guards foiled attempts of illegal migration and rescued 323 individuals aboard makeshift boats, while 381 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested nationwide,” concluded the Army’s operational report.
