
ALGIERS – Twelve terrorist supporters were arrested and a quantity of arms was seized in separate operations nationwide by detachments of the Algerian People’s National Army (PNA) in the period of April 17-22, the PNA said Wednesday in a press release.
“As part of the ongoing counterterrorism efforts against the multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out, in the period of April 17-22, several operations that led to quality results showing the professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our armed forces nationwide,” said the press release.
As part of the fight against terrorism and “thanks to the efforts of the PNA, PNA detachments seized 2 RPG-7 rocket launchers and 4 Kalashnikov submachine guns in the 6th Military Region (MR), while other PNA detachments arrested 12 terrorist supporters in various operations across the national territory.”
In the fight against organized crime, “the sustained efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined Army detachments have intercepted, in coordination with different security services, in operations carried out in various military regions, 38 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to introduce nine quintals and 57 kilograms of cannabis resin from the borders with Morocco, while 310,506 psychotropic tablets were seized.”
