US-Algeria Energy Forum: Sonatrach Signs Two MoUs with Oxy

Sonatrach and its partner Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy), based in the United States, signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on the sidelines of the 2025 US-Algeria Energy Forum, according to a statement from Sonatrach on Wednesday.

These MoUs aim to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation through new partnership opportunities in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Algeria, the statement added.

The first MoU is intended to define the framework for discussions on exploring cooperation opportunities for the development of carbonate reservoirs, while the second MoU focuses on implementing Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques to optimize production and improve final recovery factors, the source explained.

Sonatrach and Oxy, along with two other partners, operate the Berkine contract area under a hydrocarbon contract signed on July 19, 2022.
