Algeria’s Arkab Discusses Gas Market Developments with GECF Secretary General in Doha

On the eve of his participation in the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met in Doha, the capital of Qatar, with the Forum’s Secretary-General, Mohamed Hamel. The meeting was attended by Algeria’s ambassador to Qatar and senior officials from both sides.
The discussions focused on developments in the global gas market and its future prospects, as well as various organizational and administrative issues related to the Forum’s management. Both parties also addressed the Forum’s strategic objectives and ways to improve its operational mechanisms to enhance its role in supporting the stability of global markets. The role of the Gas Research Institute, based in Algiers, was also highlighted, particularly in developing technical expertise and promoting innovation in the gas industry.
On this occasion, Minister Arkab emphasized the importance of establishing the Forum as an international reference in the natural gas industry and strengthening dialogue between producers and consumers to ensure transparency and market stability. He reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to continue supporting the Forum and developing its activities.
For his part, Secretary-General Mohamed Hamel expressed his appreciation for Algeria’s leading role within the Forum, praising its continued contributions to promoting the Forum’s work and expanding cooperation among member countries.
