Algeria Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire, Hopes for Lasting Settlement of Palestinian Cause

ALGIERS, Oct 9, 2025 – Algeria expressed hope Thursday that the agreement on implementing the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza will open the way for a peaceful, lasting, and final resolution to the Palestinian cause, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs said in a statement.

“Algeria takes note of the agreement reached regarding the implementation of the first phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip, considering it a first step toward ending the Israeli aggression against the brotherly Palestinian people,” the statement said.

In this context, the ministry welcomed “the immediate ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip,” recalling that these were “two demands long called for by Algeria and the international community with persistence and determination to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.”

“Algeria hopes that this step will pave the way for a peaceful, durable, and final settlement of the Palestinian cause — one that guarantees the Palestinian people all their legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, as recognized by the United Nations and reaffirmed by the international community through successive recognitions of the State of Palestine,” the statement concluded.
