Algeria Voices Serious Concern Over U.S. Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

Algeria on Sunday expressed its deep concern and profound regret over the escalation in the Middle East, which further aggravates the situation in the region and exposes it to unprecedented dangers with unforeseeable consequences, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The statement indicated that at a time when there is broad international consensus on the need to ease regional tensions, last night’s Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran took a dangerously grave turn, with the escalation intensifying following U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“This international consensus has affirmed—and continues to affirm—the necessity of a ceasefire, a return to the negotiating table, and a sincere and good-faith effort to seek a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue,” the source said, adding that, “The sensitivity and gravity of the situation demand that everyone draw lessons from the region’s history, which unmistakably shows that military solutions have never resolved any of its problems.”

According to the statement, the foremost priority now is to return to the safest, most effective, and least costly path: a peaceful political approach grounded in the principles and rules of international legitimacy and the United Nations Charter. “This approach would help spare the region from further tensions and tragedies.”
