Algeria Urges All Libyans to Engage in Dialogue for Conflict Resolution

Algeria has voiced its “deep concern and alarm” over the recent surge of armed clashes among Libyan brothers in the capital, Tripoli. In a statement released today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, the country reaffirmed that dialogue is the “only option for resolving differences.”

The statement noted, “Algeria is closely monitoring the renewed armed conflicts among Libyan brothers in Tripoli with profound concern, as these clashes have led to loss of life and squandered the resources of this sisterly nation without yielding any benefits.”

In light of these serious developments, Algeria urgently calls on all Libyans to come together and engage in dialogue as the sole means of resolving disputes. This requires a strong sense of national responsibility, prioritizing the supreme interests of the Libyan people over temporary considerations and narrow calculations.

The statement further emphasized that “now more than ever, Libya needs the unity of all its citizens and their reconciliation, moving away from division and discord to advance the political process under the auspices of the United Nations in pursuit of a long-awaited solution.”
