Algeria, UNDP Discuss Strengthening Cooperation in Social Economy and Solidarity

ALGIERS – The Algerian minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faysal Bentaleb, received the representative of the “United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)” in Algeria, Natasha Van Rijn, with whom he exchanged views on cooperation between the two sides, the ministry said Thursday in a statement.

During the meeting, held Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters, Bentaleb welcomed the level of “fruitful cooperation” between Algeria and the UNDP, mainly in relation to “social economy and solidarity.”

He underlined that this business model is intended to be a “sustainable vector” to “reinforce the values of solidarity, which are deeply rooted in the Algerian society, and which are reflected in the Algerian social security system, based on solidarity and social justice among generations.”

The representative of the UNDP praised “the fruitful cooperation with Algeria and its efforts in terms of sustainable development.”

He also stressed “the importance of strengthening the prospects for cooperation in the field,” the statement added.
