Algeria, UN Hold High-Level Meeting on Digital, Emerging Technologies

The Algerian Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, received on Sunday, at the headquarters of the public accelerator “Algeria Venture,” Amandeep Singh Gill, United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, the Ministry announced on Tuesday.

The meeting, held on Sunday, provided an opportunity to exchange views on prospects for cooperation in the fields of digitization, innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly regarding emerging technologies, emphasizing the growing role of artificial intelligence in economic development and technological progress, as well as ways to strengthen Algeria’s startup ecosystem.

The two parties also addressed international initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive and responsible digital governance, highlighting the importance of building local and continental capacities and encouraging innovation, especially among young people.

In this respect, presentations showcased locally developed technological solutions by Algerian startups operating in artificial intelligence and digitization.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to enhance communication to coordinate African and international initiatives in artificial intelligence, given the strategic and technological significance of this sector.
