Algeria to Host the 2024 Pan-African Youth Forum in Oran

On the occasion of Algeria hosting the 2024 Pan-African Youth Forum, which will take place in Oran from November 1 to 4, 2024, organized by the African Union, and coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution of Liberation on November 1, 1954, the country is preparing to welcome hundreds of young African leaders. The President of the High Council for Youth, Moustafa Hidaoui, recently chaired a meeting with the local organizing committee, consisting of representatives from various ministries and public bodies, to finalize the details of the event.

During a press conference held at the Mofdi Zakaria Palace of Culture in Algiers, Hidaoui announced the general program for the forum, which will be held under the theme: “Educating Africans Fit for the 21st Century: Building Flexible Educational Systems to Increase Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, High-Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa.” The forum is set to bring together approximately 350 young men and women from 49 African countries, providing them with a platform to exchange experiences and collaborate on key issues related to education, innovation, sustainable development, and youth empowerment.

Hidaoui emphasized that hosting this prestigious event is a testament to Algeria’s commitment to fostering youth diplomacy in Africa. The forum will highlight Algeria’s significant role in supporting education across the continent, making it a hub for African students. The event, which will be supported by a technical committee of 170 volunteers under the age of 35, aims to address key topics such as youth participation in political life, employment, health, and culture. Representatives from the African Union praised Algeria’s efforts, highlighting that the forum will serve as a valuable opportunity for African youth to share best practices and invest in education for a better future for the continent.

Additionally, the official website for the forum, “www.payforum.dz,” was launched, alongside a digital portal and various social media platforms to enhance engagement and accessibility for participants.
