Algeria to Boost Energy Investments with Focus on Exports and Clean Energy

ALGIERS- Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, instructed the Government, during the Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, to adopt an integrated vision based on the development of investment in the field of electrical energy while directing the surplus to export, according to a Communiqué of the Council of Ministers.
Regarding the roadmap for diversifying energy sources for electricity production, the President of the Republic “has instructed the Government to adopt an integrated approach based on developing investment in the energy sector and directing surplus production toward exports, as the Algerian energy industry has proven its efficiency,” the source said.
Energy investments must be profitable for Algeria, having already achieved energy self-sufficiency, stressing that “Algeria will soon begin research in international partnerships to adopt new clean energy sources, utilizing Algerian expertise and know-how.”
“The increase in energy production in Algeria will rely on a dual vision that combines support for both traditional and new investments while maintaining national energy security,” according to the same source.
The President of the Republic encouraged “Sonelgaz to play a leading role at the regional and continental levels, given its capabilities and highly qualified personnel.”
On this occasion, the President once again expressed “his gratitude to all Sonelgaz workers and executives for their efforts in electrifying the heart of Algeria and for all investment projects across various sectors,” the source concluded.
