ALGIERS – The People’s National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) will participate in a workshop in Tanzania on September 2nd and 3rd, focussing on collaboration between the Pan-African Parliament and the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, according to a statement issued today by the Assembly.
The statement noted that the People’s National Assembly will be represented by Mohamed Socrate, a member of the Rules, Privileges, and Discipline Committee of the Pan-African Parliament, under the theme “Institutionalising Cooperation Between the African Parliament and Court.”
The Assembly’s participation in this event is seen as an opportunity to strengthen Algeria’s role in supporting African integration and contributing to the development of the African Union institutions.
The workshop aims to “enhance institutional dialogue between African legislative and judicial bodies to lay the groundwork for constructive cooperation between the two entities” and will involve “representatives from various African parliaments and legal experts.”
