Algeria Strengthens Its Strategic Role in the Energy Sector, Says Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority President

The President of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority, Amine Remini, emphasized on Monday in Oran that Algeria continues to consolidate its position as a strategic hub in the energy sector.

Speaking at the 13th edition of the Africa & Mediterranean Energy & Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC 2025), held at the Mohamed Benahmed Convention Center, Remini stated that Algeria is reinforcing its strategic standing in the energy industry thanks to political stability, openness to innovation, and a transparent and incentive-driven regulatory framework for investment.

He added that the theme chosen for this edition — “Accelerating Access to the Energy of Tomorrow and Achieving High Energy Efficiency through Partnership, Investment, Innovation, and Technology” — deeply reflects current challenges while expressing a collective will to build a diversified and sustainable energy future.

Amid global geopolitical and economic instability, Remini affirmed that Algeria remains one of the most remarkable examples of stability in the region.

He also noted that the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority has launched a comprehensive transformation process to adapt to rapid changes in the energy sector. This process focuses on several strategic pillars, including the development of human and technical skills, modernization of the organizational structure, digitization of services through modern and efficient platforms, and strengthening rapid interaction with operators to ensure smoother and more efficient services.

Discussing investment opportunities in Algeria, Remini stressed that the country’s strengths go beyond its vast natural resources, as it also possesses robust infrastructure and highly skilled human capital.

“We have a clear and precise vision for Algeria’s energy future, built on well-defined strategic objectives. Thanks to the stability we enjoy today, we are capable of achieving a comprehensive and effective energy transition,” he stated.

Remini also reaffirmed Algeria’s readiness to support both local and foreign investors, providing all the favorable conditions necessary for the success of their projects.
