Algeria: Sonatrach CEO Meets GECF Secretary General to Boost Energy Cooperation

ALGIERS – The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, received, Tuesday in Algiers, the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mohamed Hamel, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two parties, Sonatrach said in a press release.

During this meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the general direction of Sonatrach, the two parties examined “the means to strengthen cooperation and widen partnership prospects, aligned with the current challenges that the energy sector faces regionally and internationally,” added the same source.

The talks focused on the prospects of natural gas in the global energy mix, and its strategic role in achieving sustainable development and supporting the energy transition process, as a key option towards a cleaner and more efficient energy future.

This meeting mirrors “Sonatrach’s commitment to continue its efforts to strengthen Algeria’s position as a reliable partner and central actor in the global gas industry, through active membership in regional and international initiatives.”
