Algeria-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group Holds Meetings with Officials in Ljubljana

A delegation from the Slovenia-Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group held a series of meetings Wednesday in Ljubljana (Slovenia) with several Slovenian officials as part of efforts to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, the Algerian National People’s Assembly (APN) said in a statement.

The visit’s program featured “intensive activity,” with the delegation holding a number of meetings with counterparts from the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. During these discussions, ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries were explored, taking into account “the important role of friendship groups in reinforcing partnership and developing cooperation at different levels,” the statement said.

The talks also included exchanges of views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Algerian delegation was received by Urška Klakočar Zupančič, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia. Joint meetings followed with members of the Economic Commission, the Commission on Education, Science and Youth, as well as with members of the Commission on Political and Foreign Affairs, the statement added.

The delegation also held “a series of meetings with the Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs,” during which they reviewed Algeria-Slovenia relations and their evolution in recent years, praising the cooperation existing between the two countries at both bilateral and multilateral levels — including within the framework of the United Nations Security Council.
