Algeria Signs Global Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, participated on Monday in New York in the official launch ceremony of the global Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel, as part of his representation of Algeria at the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the ceremony, Attaf signed the Declaration, which aims to strengthen the legal framework for the protection of humanitarian workers, in line with the provisions of international humanitarian law. Moreover, it seeks to ensure that aid reaches its recipients in a comprehensive, safe, timely, and unobstructed manner, the statement said.
The launch of this declaration comes amid the increasing frequency of attacks against humanitarian workers in armed conflict zones, especially in the Gaza Strip, which the Israeli occupation has turned into one of the most dangerous and challenging environments for humanitarian work, the source added.
