Algeria Showcases Improved Investment Climate Driven by Key Reforms

ALGIERS – The Algerian Minister of Finance, Abdelkrim Bouzred affirmed on Tuesday, in Algiers, that the business climate in Algeria has notably improved in recent years thanks to reforms undertaken by the high authorities, emphasizing Algeria’s willingness to benefit from the experiences of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) institutions in terms of support and financing for the private sector.

In his speech at the opening of the Private Sector Forum, organized as part of the Annual Assemblies of the IDB Group at Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Center (CIC, Algiers), under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Bouzred affirmed that the investment climate in Algeria “has notably improved in recent years thanks to legislative, regulatory and administrative reforms undertaken by the high authorities, based on transparency, efficiency and simplification of procedures, in addition to the implementation of the principle of public-private partnership, with a view to building a productive economy integrated into global value chains.”

Emphasizing Algeria’s commitment to further improve its business climate and ensure all favorable conditions to encourage investments, the minister called on economic operators to benefit from the available opportunities and the significant potential that the country has.

For the minister, this forum marked by the presence of the IDB Group President, Muhammad Al Jasser, as well as several Algerian and foreign economic operators, constitutes a valuable initiative of great importance to highlight the pivotal role of the private sector in development, emphasizing “the exceptional approach adopted by Algeria to diversify its economy, which aims to strengthen the role of the private sector and support entrepreneurship and encourage initiative.”
