Algeria Seeks Stronger Industry-Energy Cooperation to Drive National Economy

ALGIERS – The Algerian minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Sifi Ghrieb, called Monday for extending cooperation and partnership between the sectors of industry and energy to make them the driving force of the national economy.”

In an address made on the occasion of the signing of six framework conventions between public industrial groups and Sonatrach for the supply of products and services, in the presence of Mohamed Arkab, the minister of State, minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Ghrieb stressed the importance of the conventions, dubbing them a “milestone in the cooperation” between the two sectors, the ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production said in a statement.

He added, according to the statement, that the sectors of industry and energy are expected to expand their areas of cooperation and partnership.

The minister mentioned his sector’s strategy for developing subcontracting and reverse engineering, emphasizing the “need to identify all inputs and outputs related to domestic products, in coordination with the sector of energy and mines, in directories devoted to this purpose.”
