Algeria, Sarens Group Explore Investment Opportunities in Energy, Mining and Renewables

ALGIERS — The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, received Tuesday in Algiers a delegation from the Sarens Group, led by its executive director, Wim Sarens, the ministry said in a press release.
The two parties examined investment opportunities in the energy sector in Algeria, the same source said.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore ways to strengthen cooperation and partnerships between Sarens and sector companies, particularly Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and Sonarem, the statement added.
In this respect, Arkab outlined a comprehensive overview of the sector’s development prospects, outlining major ongoing programs and available investment opportunities as part of profound reforms and the new legal and regulatory framework established by the State to promote investment and establish an attractive, competitive business climate.
Discussions also covered key areas for potential cooperation, including projects to develop hydrocarbon infrastructure, build electrical installations, process mineral resources and set up renewable energy and seawater desalination projects, the ministry said.
Arkab highlighted the incentives and guarantees provided under the new investment law for both domestic and foreign investors.
He also stressed the importance of high-quality partnerships based on technology transfer, job generation and strengthening local content.
The meeting also addressed ways for Sarens to contribute to national energy transition efforts through advanced technologies, including energy storage and solar power, as well as wind energy projects in coastal areas (offshore wind) and inland regions (onshore wind), given Algeria’s promising natural resources and the group’s extensive expertise and capabilities in this field.
For his part, Sarens expressed strong interest in the Algerian market and full readiness to boost its presence through its Algerian subsidiary, leveraging its extensive global expertise in major projects aligned with Algeria’s strategic orientations in energy, mining and renewable energy.
