Algeria Reaffirms Social Equity Commitment at 4th Arab Forum for Equality

ALGIERS – Tasked by the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui chaired Tuesday, at the Abdellatif-Rahal International Conference Centre in Algiers, the opening of the proceedings of the 4th Arab Forum for Equality, organized in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
In an opening address, the Prime Minister said that this important event is an opportunity “to look at the best ways to support vulnerable and disadvantaged groups, and find practical solutions and new approaches that contribute directly and effectively to reducing inequalities, to build resilient, prosperous and caring societies, while strengthening global partnerships for inclusive and sustainable social protection.”
Larbaoui underlined Algeria’s comprehensive reforms under the leadership of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who expressed his unwavering commitment to enshrining the welfare aspect of the state, a constant principle that the country has upheld since independence, while adapting its content and mechanisms to the requirements of each stage in line with domestic and international developments.
Algeria has adopted policies aimed at “guaranteeing equality between all citizens and to ensure them a decent life,” including “equitable access to essential services and equal opportunities for employment and investment,” the Prime Minister said.
It has created “several support mechanisms for vulnerable and precarious categories, and has taken various measures to protect the purchasing power of individuals and households.”
