Algeria, Qatar Discuss Steel and Mining Cooperation During High-Level Meeting
ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of Industry, Sifi Ghrieb, received Wednesday a high-level Qatari delegation, led by President of the Administration Council of the International Qatari Steel company and main shareholder of the Qatar Steel Algérie project, Khaled El Abidli, to discuss the means aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, said the ministry in a Communiqué.
This meeting, which took place in the presence of ministry officials, is part of the implementation of the instructions of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at realizing the agreement concluded with the Emir of the State of Qatar, particularly in the fields of industry and mining, adds the same source.
This meeting was an opportunity to discuss prospects for strengthening the investment partnership between Algeria and Qatar through strategic projects such as the Qatar Steel Algeria project, which represents a successful model of Arab industrial cooperation, the source added.
The two parties also discussed investment opportunities in the mining sector, given its vital role in diversifying national economy, while emphasizing the importance of creating permanent jobs and strengthening local added value, according to the ministry.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and implementing joint projects, in accordance with the vision of both countries to build an integrated and sustainable economy.
