Algeria Poised to Secure 2026 World Cup Spot Ahead of Crucial Qualifier Against Somalia

Algerian football team continues their intensive preparations before taking off for the city of Oran, ahead of a 2026 World Cup qualifier against their Somali counterpart on Thursday (17:00 local time), the ninth day of Group G, at the Miloud-Hadefi Stadium, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) said on its official website.

The Greens took part in another training session on Tuesday afternoon at the National Technical Centre in Sidi Moussa, Algiers, focusing on the technical and tactical work, in the presence of the entire squad selected by national coach Vladimir Petkovic.

A victory will be enough for the Algerian team to officially secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

At the end of the eighth match day, played last September, the national team sits atop Group G with 19 points, four points ahead of its closest rivals, Mozambique and Uganda (15 points each).

Guinea is in fourth place with 11 points, ahead of Botswana (9 points) and Somalia (1 point).
