Algeria–Nicaragua Friendship Group Highlights Economic Partnership Opportunities in Managua

A delegation from the “Algeria–Nicaragua” Parliamentary Friendship Group held official meetings in Managua (Nicaragua), where economic partnership opportunities between the two countries were discussed, the Algerian National People’s Assembly (APN) said Thursday in a statement.

The Algerian delegation was received by Laureano Ortega Murillo, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua in charge of investments and foreign trade, the statement added, noting that the meeting reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation, particularly in its economic dimension.

On this occasion, both sides discussed “the business climate and investment opportunities available in the two countries,” emphasizing “the need to translate shared political will into strategic partnerships.”

During the visit, members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group delivered a detailed presentation on “Algeria’s economic potential, notably in light of the deep reforms initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which have improved the investment climate and launched major projects in vital sectors.”

The Algerian side highlighted opportunities in renewable energy, agriculture, fisheries and services — sectors currently experiencing accelerated growth thanks to ongoing economic transformations and a desire to diversify sources of income.

The delegation also underscored “Algeria’s commitment to establishing mutually beneficial partnerships, transferring expertise, and opening new avenues for commercial exchange.”

For his part, Ortega Murillo expressed “his country’s appreciation for the historical relations with Algeria,” affirming “Nicaragua’s willingness to provide all necessary facilities to Algerian economic operators wishing to invest in the local market.”

He noted the “favourable investment climate” in Nicaragua, particularly in tourism, agriculture, energy and infrastructure, stressing Nicaragua’s “desire to attract Algerian investment and strengthen trade between the two parties.”

The talks were also attended by Algeria’s Ambassador to Nicaragua, Ali Menguellati, who in turn stressed “the importance of these initiatives in promoting bilateral relations and giving them greater momentum,” noting that economic cooperation remains “one of the principal shared priorities for the next stage,” the statement concluded.
