Algeria–Mauritania Joint Commission: Signing of Several Bilateral Agreements

ALGIERS, April 7, 2026 – The Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diay, co-chaired on Tuesday at the Government Palace the signing ceremony of several bilateral agreements covering key sectors.

These agreements include a cooperation deal aimed at enhancing investment and business opportunities between the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) and the Mauritanian National Employers’ Union (UNPM), as well as a cooperation agreement between the Higher School of Sports Sciences and Technologies (ESSTS) in Dely Ibrahim and the Higher Institute of Youth and Sports (ISJS) in Nouakchott.

They also include twinning agreements between Algeria’s General Labour Inspectorate (IGT) and its Mauritanian counterpart, as well as between the National Institute for Higher Training of Youth Executives (INFSCJ) in Tixeraïne and ISJS in Nouakchott, in addition to a cooperation agreement between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and its Mauritanian counterpart.

Further agreements were signed between the Directorate General for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT) and the Mauritanian Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation (ANRSI), as well as between the National Office of University Services (ONOU) and its Mauritanian counterpart (CNOU), in addition to a memorandum of understanding between the Civil Aviation authorities of both countries.

The two sides also signed an executive program between their respective ministries of vocational training for the period 2026–2028.

In the communication sector, memorandums of understanding were signed between the national television companies, as well as between the Algerian Ministry of Communication and its Mauritanian counterpart. Another executive program was concluded between the ministries in charge of youth for the same period.

The list also includes agreements in agriculture, maritime infrastructure, finance (including Islamic finance and public accounting), as well as a framework agreement facilitating the implementation of cooperation projects.

Additional agreements cover air transport services, security cooperation, parliamentary relations, sports (2026–2028), environment and sustainable development, the creation of an Algerian cultural center in Mauritania, and cooperation in electricity and renewable energy.

The two countries further signed agreements in the pharmaceutical sector, standardization and metrology, industrial property, industrial cooperation, and education (2026–2028), along with a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of a joint consular commission.
