Algeria-Mauritania: Armies Sign Cooperation Protocol

Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army of Algeria (ANP), co-chaired a ceremony in Nouakchott on Thursday with Army Corps General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane, Chief of General Staff of the Mauritanian Armed Forces, to sign a cooperation protocol between the two countries’ armies, according to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
“During the third day of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, at the invitation of his Mauritanian counterpart, Army Corps General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane, Army General visited the G5 Sahel Defense College and the Polytechnic Complex in Nouakchott,” the statement specified.
“This visit to these two training centers provided an opportunity for the Army General and his accompanying delegation to gain insights into Mauritania’s experience in high-level military and scientific training,” the source added.
The Army General “attended detailed presentations about the two institutions and received comprehensive explanations regarding their departments and missions,” the statement continued.
Following this, the Army General “visited the headquarters of the General Staff of the Mauritanian Armed Forces, where he co-chaired, alongside Army Corps General El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane, the ceremony for signing a cooperation protocol concerning intelligence exchange. This involved representatives from both sides, specifically the Central Director of Army Security from the ANP and the Commander of the Intelligence and Military Security Division from the Mauritanian General Staff.”
At the conclusion of this meeting, “the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts,” the statement concluded.
