Algeria : Massive Turnout in Batna as Citizens Pay Final Respects to Former President Liamine Zeroual

The Batna provincial headquarters saw a massive turnout of citizens on Monday morning, as mourners arrived from across the country to pay their final respects to the body of the former President of the Republic, late Mujahid Liamine Zeroual, who passed away on Saturday.

Numerous citizens interviewed by APS, having traveled from provinces including Oum El Bouaghi, Djelfa, Relizane, and Mascara, expressed profound sorrow over the loss of a Mujahid who dedicated his life to the country.

They recalled his struggle to liberate Algeria from the yoke of colonialism, noting that he joined the glorious National Liberation Revolution at a young age and remained a figure of immense stature, deeply esteemed by the Algerian people.

For their part, the Wali (Governor) of Batna, alongside local officials, elected representatives, and fellow Mujahideen, paid their respects and offered prayers for the soul of the late President.

Among the mourners was the Mujahida Sassia Halis, a founding member of the secret cells during the Revolution. She expressed her deep grief at the passing of Liamine Zeroual, hailing him as a leader who served the country and its people with unwavering dedication and sincerity.
